New SEBI Rule: Debit Freeze Facility for Mutual Fund Investors Explained
Capital market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has recently introduced an important investor protection measure for mutual fund investors. Through a circular issued on 6 March 2026, SEBI has directed mutual funds to introduce a Voluntary Lock-in / Debit Freeze facility for mutual fund folios. This facility is aimed at improving the digital security of mutual fund investments and protecting investors from unauthorized transactions.
